Mubadala and BAE Systems sign Cooperative Agreement to develop future Emirati talent


Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala), the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, and BAE Systems, the UK defence, aerospace, and security company, today announced the signing of a Student Cooperative Agreement (SCA). The agreement will see the two companies set up an international internship programme for Emirati students, and an outreach programme for school children in the UAE.

Beginning September 2015, with support from Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Mubadala and BAE Systems will partner on the internship programme until 2020.  Each year five full-time undergraduate engineering students will be selected to attend an intensive 18 week programme at BAE Systems’ Military Air & Information business in England.

Airbus Middle East, Airbus ProSky and Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) sign a MOC to Advance Air Traffic Management and Communication Navigation

The link between the growth of aviation sector and the Middle East’s economic growth cannot be ignored. Many of the national airlines regionally are preparing for expansive growth over the next decade and beyond, projected in the range of five percent or more annually. As a result the demands on the region’s air traffic management (ATM) system are mounting and changes to increase access and capacity are crucial to future growth of the regional industry.

BAE Systems has successfully completed guided firing trials of the Meteor® Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile launched from a Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft.

The trials took place at the Ministry of Defence’s Hebrides range in the United Kingdom and saw Typhoon conduct guided Meteor firings against real air targets in pre-planned scenarios. The trials formed part of the flight test campaign for the ‘Phase 2 Enhancements’ (P2E) programme which will introduce a range of new and improved long range attack capabilities including Meteor and Storm Shadow missiles.

inter airport Europe 2015: The world’s leading airport exhibition is celebrating its 20th show anniversary

inter airport Europe, the International Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology, Design and Services, takes place for the 20th time this year. From 6 – 9 October 2015, around 660 exhibitors from 44 countries present their latest developments and solutions for aircraft, passenger and cargo handling, security and airport IT, architectural components as well as ground support equipment at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany. For its show anniversary, inter airport Europe occupies a net exhibition space of 29,400 m2. A total of 11,900 visitors from 110 different countries attended the previous event in 2013.

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim’s parent company expands aircraft managed fleet with addition of a Bombardier Challenger 300

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim’s parent company the DC Aviation Group has announced the addition of a Bombardier Challenger 300 to its fleet of managed aircraft.

In addition to short-range, medium-range, and long-range jets from well-known manufacturers such as Cessna, Falcon Dassault, Gulfstream, and Airbus, DC Aviation now operates nine business jets from Bombardier.

AEROTHAI selects Helios for safety assurance support

Aviation consultancy Helios has been appointed by Thai ANSP AEROTHAI to lead a two-year safety assurance project linked to their nationwide CNS/ATM system modernisation programme. The consulting team combines safety, technical and human factors experts from Helios and Egis Avia, as well as senior air traffic controllers from the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) who have specific experience with some of the proposed new Thales TopSky systems.
