Airport Show expected to record over 15 per cent growth in 2016 edition


Dubai, October 17, 2015: The 16th edition of Airport Show will be held in Dubai from May 9 to 11 next year, bringing together more than 300 exhibitors from over 30 countries under one roof to showcase their innovative and game-changing products offered to key decision-makers across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) aviation industry, which is witnessing a massive growth.



Supported by Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), Dubai Airports and dnata, the Airport Show-2016 will have Travel Catering Expo (TCE) and Global Airport Leaders’ Forum (GALF) as the co-located events for the third and fourth consecutive year, respectively.

ERA won the tender and will deliver 125 SQUID vehicle tracking units to Stavanger Airport Sola, Norway

Avinor recently announced the selection of Czech Republic-based company ERA to supply 125 vehicle-mounted SQUID transmitters for surface vehicle tracking in Stavanger Airport Sola.

“The evaluation has been based upon the contract award criteria identified in the Invitation to Tender and the final decision is based upon a total evaluation of all criteria, which identifies that ERA has delivered the economically most advantageous tenders,” stated Tone Skau Monsen, Procurement Expert of Avinor.

Helios begins work on GCC ‘seamless’ airspace study

Aviation consultancy Helios has been awarded a contract by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Air Navigation Committee to develop a detailed study and implementation roadmap to harmonise air traffic management (ATM) provision across the six GCC States of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. This is an important strategic project for the region expected to help deliver the additional capacity and improved efficiency necessary to meet increasing demand. It is also the first step towards the ‘seamless’ airspace concept envisaged by the GCC.

Thales navigation aids to secure major Iraqi airport

Thales has been awarded a contract to supply one ILS/DME and all related services for Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport in Najaf.

The city of Najaf, situated in southern Iraq is the site of the Imam Ali Shrine and is an important religious destination, playing host to millions of pilgrims each year. Najaf Al-Ashraf airport has therefore been experiencing significant traffic growth in recent years, with many international airlines like Gulf Air and Turkish Airlines running regular services.

Next generation of controllers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia graduate from Entry Point North

On 1st October students of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia graduated from a two-year’s intensive training programme to become next generation of air traffic controllers. The training programme was performed under the agreement between Entry Point North and the Ministry of Higher Education meeting their special requirements.

Honeywell Aerospace’s (NYSE: HON) SmartPath® Ground-Based Augmentation System and EGTS™ electric taxiing system technologies have been recognized by the Air Transport Action Group as solutions that can help support the aviation industry’s goal to reduce CO2 emissions from 2005 in half by 2050. The two technologies were included in the Aviation Climate Solutions report, a collection of 100 examples of how the aviation industry is collaborating to cut carbon dioxide emissions and help reduce its impact on climate change, released at the Global Sustainable Aviation Summit in Geneva, Switzerland.

Harris Corporation to Supply Air Traffic Control System for St. Lucia International Airport

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has been selected to supply critical air traffic control (ATC) communications to the Hewanorra International Airport in St. Lucia.

Harris will supply its Liberty-STAR™ Voice Communication and Control System (VCCS) to the main airport, which serves the island of St. Lucia.

inter airport Europe 2015 closes with a 7% increase in visitors

The 20th anniversary edition of inter airport Europe, International Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology, Design & Services, ended today with very positive results. During the four exhibition days, a total of 12,706 trade visitors from 110 countries came to the Munich Trade Fair Centre to find out about the latest trends in the airport industry and specify innovative equipment and systems. This represents a 7% increase in visitors compared to the previous show in 2013.

With a total of 676 exhibitors from 44 countries and a net floor space of 29,870m2 inter airport Europe 2015 could also increase its exhibitor numbers and floor space by 5.5% each compared with the previous event.

Aviation spotlight falls on Dubai and ATC Global 2015

High level delegations and representatives from the global air traffic management, airport, airline and wider aviation community met in Dubai for the 25thannual ATC Global Exhibition and Conference on 5-7 October.

The event was organised with full support from local stakeholders including the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS), Dubai Airports and Emirates Airline and is the only large-scale event dedicated to air traffic control to have taken place in the region.
